The album title "Waiting For Inspiration" came from my wife Susan. I thought the cover photo looked like I was waiting for something -- The bus? The mailman? A sunny day in the Northwest? Then, my wife took a look at it and said: "Hmmm...Looks like you're waiting for inspiration!" The name stuck. Musicians: Dan Carollo (guitar, mandolin, bodhran), Ted Yuen (fiddle), Torrey Hoffman (bass), Travis Coster (djembe), Dan Allen (keyboard), Beth Soderlund (vocals) Recorded by J.C. Cunningham at Emmaus Road Studios - Duvall, WA Special Thanks to... Richard D. Stone: For 7 years of putting a roof over my head in Kent, WA. Also for supplying the Sawchyn guitar (a gift) and Breedlove mandolin (on loan -- right?), with which this album was recorded.</image:caption>

The title of the CD "Miles from Dublin" was inspired by a brief stay I took in the city in December 2005, en route to Moscow, Russia to finalize an adoption of a 13-month old boy (a whole other story in itself!). In my two prior trips to Dublin, I have to say I didn't think much of the city at all. But it was during that recent trip that I felt a sense of intrigue and fascination for the city and those areas just outside -- literally "miles from Dublin" (or "kilometers" if you're actually from Ireland!) <image:caption>► Purchase high-quality WAV download on BandCamp… ► Digital streaming and downloads available on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and others… ► Donate however much you’d like to support Dan’s work! This is my third CD recording project. This was recorded and mixed in a whirlwind timeframe of two weeks in June 2010. Many of these tunes are ones I had played during the monthly Communion service at St. James Crinken Church in Shankill, Ireland. Included on the recording are six traditional hymns and five tracks composed by myself (see titles marked with *). All tunes were recorded using my Taylor 412-K acoustic guitar in DADGAD tuning. The title "The Communion of Saints" comes out of the idea in the traditional creeds (ie. The Apostle's Creed). It is also a play on words in referring to the actual sacrament of Communion (or Eucharist). Produced by Dan Carollo Record and mixed by Rónán Johnston at "Rojo's Place", Dublin, Ireland. 2010 Dan Carollo - guitar Featured musicians: Rónán Johnston - keyboards Cover photography by Dan Carollo: Description: Winter trees on the hills near Glendalough monastic site. <image:title>Recordings - Sacred Stories (2021) - Sacred Stories</image:title>
<image:caption>Released: August 2021 ► Purchase limited-edition CD and digital album on BandCamp... ► Stream “Sacred Stories” on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, etc. “Sacred Stories is a beautiful and fitting follow up to Dan Carollo's earlier work. He continues to blend traditional airs with new ideas and arrangements which pull out the soaring, searching and yearning at the heart of those old hymns. Sonically beautiful, an accoustic treat for the ears. Loved it!” - Rónán Johnston, music producer, composer and international speaker. Sacred Stories is my fourth album, recorded in one afternoon on June 2021 at Church of the Assumption in Bellingham, WA. This album includes 9 tracks, mostly traditional hymns, including three original tunes, featuring Irish fiddle and Norwegian hardanger fiddle by Brandon Vance, and cello by William Braun. My goal for this recording was to capture the natural reverb sound of the church hall — which means since we didn’t have sound isolation booths as you would typically have in a recording studio, I had to tolerate a few sounds bleeding through — the sound of an occasional truck, creaks in the doors, and even the church bells! No overdubbing or post-production effects, no track splicing to patch mistakes -- just the raw recording, warts and all. The inspiration for the title comes from an Ignatian study group at our church called “Sacred Story Community” sponsored by “The Sacred Story Insitute. The basic theme refers to the idea of God continually writing our story. We are all works in progress - many of us even deeply wounded — but our truest identity is in becoming the person he is making us to be. Who better to write our story than the author of the universe, who expresses his language in the mathematical elegance of nature, in sacrificial love, and in beauty itself? Each of the tracks on this album tell their own story, and are all connected to my own journey in some way. ____________________ Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Gerard Hranek, Acoustic Prism Studios, Bellingham, WA, June 2021: www.acousticprism.com. Cover photo by Gerard Hranek Back photo by Dan Carollo Special thanks to Dr. Frederick B. Mabalot, music director and Karen Zuther, parish administrator at Church of the Assumption for helping me to arrange the recording space at the church.</image:caption>
